with No Comments

Following the most recent regulations adopted to fight the Coronavirus epidemic, all the Immigration offices in Italy have suspended their activities to the public with significant implications on permits’ applications.

On one side, all the terms related to the current immigration proceedings will be postponed by 30 (thirty) days, on the other side, though, some activities will be carried out via internet and email, such as, for instance, the submission of additional documents to integrate someone’s application.

Let’s examine the authorities’ official press release, below entirely pasted in its English version for your convenience.

[BEGINS]

In compliance with D.P.C.M. (Translator’s note: the acronym stands for Prime Minister’s Decree) dated 09.03.2020, which forbids any kind of gathering of people in either public or open to the public places, the Ministry of the Interior – Head Office for Immigration  and border police ordered the TEMPORARY CLOSURE of Immigration Service premises all over the Italian territory for the next thirty days.

For the same period, the activity of delivery of residence permits to the Commissariats of P.S. of Empoli and Sesto Fiorentino is suspended.

All users of the Immigration Service of Florence Police Headquarters are kindly reminded of what follows:

  • the appointments which were previously fixed by Poste Italiane will be changed and applicants will be notified through a text message;
  • the appointments which were previously set via CUPA Project will be changed and applicants will be notified via e-mail by the Immigration Service;

Supplementary documents and/or further pleadings concerning the applications which are currently being processed are to be sent at PEC address [email protected] as a PDF, enclosing the application receipt and the note with the necessary information about the missing papers given by the Service.

In compliance with Decree-Law 2.3.2020 n.9, it is worth pointing out that all the deadlines for the applications aiming at the issuing/renewal of stay permits are extended by a further 30 days. Therefore, it is not necessary to urgently send documents in order to avoid any e-mail address congestion.

The Immigration Service activity, consistent with public and security order, will continue to complete applications which are currently been evaluated without any negative consequences for users.

In case of any request for information concerning either the processing stage of applications or stay permits, please click on [email protected]; please, send ONE SINGLE mail for each application, and attach the receipt of the application submitted and a copy of the passport, in order to facilitate a prompt answer.

You are kindly required to follow the above-mentioned information thus avoiding to go to the Immigration Service premises, which are to be open only for users who need to ask for International protection.

It is herewith reasserted that the provisions issued by the Government aim at health protection and preservation and must be respected without fail and without any exception.
