On April 4th 2024, Italy finally adopted the implementing regulation to launch the new digital nomad visa, finally allowing workers from all over the world to relocate to and live in Italy while working remotely for a foreign employer or self-employed, outside of the yearly immigration quotas.
Among other requirements, prospective applicants need to: a) be considered highly skilled, working remotely; b) generate a minimum yearly income (three times the minimum level required for exemption from participation in healthcare costs); c) be in possession of full health insurance coverage for the netire length of their stay; d) submit sufficient evidence of adequate accomodation and of the fact that they have been remote workers, within the same field of work, elsewhere for at least six months before relocating to Italy; e) if working remotely for a company, submit evidence of the employement/collaboration (contract, binding offer etc..).
